The Lleyn rams out with the ewes in single sired groups. There was a little disaster with a couple of groups getting mixed, but we will record the without a sire and any high performers will be genotyped to assign the correct sire. The mature Lleyns are mated on fodder beet and the shearlings on deferred grass grazing. Some of the younger Lleyns have been put to shedding rams, single sired so we can record their progeny and compare them to our Lleyn rams.
The ewe lambs were moved onto cover crops, and have been moved quickly around them to leave green cover behind and to help mitigate any water issues. A group of shedding rams went out with them for four weeks. We will look through any not in lamb and decide to retain them or sell them depending on the lamb price.
