We area a family run farm, based at the highest point in the Lincolnshire Wolds, which means we can get some relatively severe weather (especially from the east), so our animals have to be tough. We have farmed at Normanby for over 100 years, with sheep and cattle always an important part of the mixed farm, we also farm combinable crops, vining peas and miscanthus.
Our aim is to produce a lot from a little, so we are using genetics to produce the type of animals that we know can perform and maximise output through both quality and quantity, while reducing inputs and labour requirements. An efficient system is not only profitable, but helps to improve the environmental credentials of our products.
We believe in constantly making progress and improving performance, better genetics helps us to consistently improve our performance and the performance of our breeding stock customers. The aim of our sheep breeding is to produce the highest performing and most tolerate sheep, in the system we want to farm.
